These mittens are the fourth design in the For the Love of Powell Series which celebrates our family’s connection to Ireland and Scotland and the rich fiber history connected to those lands.

The mittens are knit with DK weight yarn on a smaller needle than would be typical for this weight of yarn. Doing this makes a sturdy and warm mitten.

The finished mitten is 10” long and 7.5” in diameter.

The sample is made with a folded cuff. To knit mittens with a single unfolded cuff would use approximately 200 total yards of DK weight yarn.

Needles: Size 2.5 US (3.0mm) for body of mitten. Size 2.0 US (2.75mm) for cuff. Each set of needles needs to accommodate a small diameter project. 

Yarn: 230 yards of DK Weight Yarn. Sample used 100% SW Merino, 246yards/100 grams in color Cozy Night.
